IELTS Speaking practice out loud, with feedback on every answer

Practise all three parts of the IELTS Speaking test by voice. Lingua asks the questions, times your long turn and gives feedback against the four criteria examiners assess.

Sample feedback on a Part 2 long turn

The request
Describe a place you like to visit in your free time. Say where it is, how often you go there, what you do there, and explain why you like it.

Your answer (the first 30 seconds, transcribed)

“I want to talk about a park near my home. It’s very big and it have a lake. I go there every weekend, sometimes with my family, and we walk around the lake. It’s very nice because…”

Feedback

  • Fluency and coherence: you kept going for the full two minutes. Your linking was mostly “and” and “also”; try “what I like most is…” and “the reason is…”.
  • Vocabulary: “very big” and “very nice” came up five times. Try “spacious”, “peaceful” and “a great spot for…”.
  • Grammar: “it have a lake” should be “it has a lake”. Try one conditional, such as “If the weather is good, we…”.
  • Pronunciation: clear overall. In “comfortable”, the stress falls on the first syllable.

Practice estimate

Around band 6 for this answer. Wider vocabulary and a few complex sentences are the clearest route to 6.5. This is a practice estimate, not an official score.

What Lingua does

  • Runs Part 1 interview questions, the Part 2 long turn with a minute to prepare, and the Part 3 discussion.
  • Gives feedback on fluency and coherence, vocabulary, grammatical range and accuracy, and pronunciation.
  • Collects the words and structures that would lift your answers and brings them back in later sessions.
  • Tracks your progress across practice sessions.

What Lingua won’t do

  • Practice estimates are not official IELTS band scores, and Lingua cannot predict your result.
  • No real or leaked test questions: it writes its own prompts in the IELTS style.
  • Does not do graded coursework or take any test for you.

How it works

  1. Call Lingua

Start a voice session in the ProhostAI app and say which part you want to practise.

  2. Answer out loud

Lingua asks the questions and keeps the timing, including your one minute of preparation for Part 2.

  3. Read your feedback

Notes on each criterion, the language that would lift your answer and what to practise next.

Questions

How is IELTS Speaking scored?

Examiners assess fluency and coherence, lexical resource, grammatical range and accuracy, and pronunciation, and award a band score from 0 to 9.

How long is the Speaking test?

Between 11 and 14 minutes, face to face with an examiner, in three parts.

Is it different for Academic and General Training?

No. The Speaking test is the same for both; Lingua’s practice covers either.

Can it help with IELTS Writing too?

It gives feedback on practice essays you write. It does not write them for you.
