Explained: “The committee, along with its two advisers, (was / were) ready to vote.”

  1. Find the subject: “committee”, which is singular.
  2. A phrase set off by “along with” does not change the subject, so ignore “its two advisers”.
  3. A singular subject takes “was”. Answer: was.
  4. Pattern to remember: “as well as”, “together with” and “in addition to” work the same way.

What Leo does

  • Breaks practice results down by section and question type.
  • Plans weekly practice for English, Math and Reading, plus Science if your colleges want it.
  • Explains the grammar rule or the math steps behind every missed question.
  • Builds pacing drills, because many ACT points are lost to the clock rather than to knowledge.

What Leo won’t do

  • Does not do graded homework, take-home tests or anything your school requires you to complete on your own.
  • No real or leaked exam questions: it reviews the official practice tests you take and writes its own practice items. Confirm test dates, rules and accommodations with ACT.
  • Cannot guarantee a score. It shows you where the points are and keeps you practising.

How it works

  1. Share your scores

Section scores from a practice test, your target composite and your test date.

  2. Get a plan

Leo spends the most time where a few more right answers raise your composite most.

  3. Drill and review

Short timed sets with immediate explanations, then a full practice test to check progress.

Questions

What changed on the ACT?

The enhanced ACT is shorter and Science is optional; the composite score (1–36) comes from English, Math and Reading. Check which sections the colleges you are applying to require.

Should I take the ACT or the SAT?

Take a practice test of each. Leo compares your results and your pacing on both and helps you choose the one where your strengths count most.

Can it help with the ACT writing test?

Yes. It explains the task and gives feedback on practice essays you write. It does not write them for you.

Where do practice questions come from?

Use ACT’s official practice tests and share your results. Leo also writes its own practice questions for the skills you are drilling.
